April 25, 2008
Authorities don't know where shot came from

An eighth-grade soccer player was shot and wounded during a game at a King Science and Technology Magnet School in Omaha, Neb. Taylor Borgeson, 14, underwent surgery for a gunshot wound in his mouth. He had just come off the soccer field Thursday afternoon and sat down on the sidelines when he slumped over, clutching his cheeks. Around the same time, gunfire was reported at an elementary school about a mile away. Authorities did not know whether the shootings were related but were searching for a suspect in the soccer player's shooting. The middle school was locked down briefly after the shooting. No arrests had been made, and it was not immediately clear where the shots came from or how many were fired.
