Louisiana districts say hurricane damage is not severe

Schools in Louisiana's River Parishes were bruised but not broken by Hurricane Gustav's intense wind and rain. St. Charles Parish school officials announced the district's schools would reopen Wednesday. Employees will report to work Monday and Tuesday. St. John the Baptist Parish school officials have not yet set an opening date because of the continuing power outages in the parish. Catholic schools in the two parishes continue to plan for a Monday opening, but officials say schools will not open without electricity.
