$1 million project will break ground next year

The Hamilton (Ohio) City School District is planning a new $1 million field house for Hamilton High School. Groundbreaking for the gym and field house is scheduled for June. Once construction is complete, the existing high school gym will be renovated into a cafeteria and the existing cafeteria will be renovated into classrooms, district officials say. The existing field house will be demolished to make room for parking spaces for the school's new gymnasium — which will include a 2,000-seat arena with a second-floor fitness track. The arena will be surrounded by support spaces including a fitness room, physical education and locker rooms, offices and multipurpose space. A hallway will connect the new gym and the auxiliary gym to the high school. The architect is SHP.
