Board decides that school will open as elementary, and add middle grades later

From The St. Petersburg Times: After wavering on the construction schedule for a planned school, the Hernando County (Fla.) School Board has decided to spend $33.7 million to build a full K-8 school in time to open in fall 2011. The board has agreed to fill only the elementary grades at that time. The school would accommodate middle school grades in subsequent years. By phasing in the school, administrators say, operation costs would start at $2.4 million in 2011 and gradually climb to about $3.7 million by 2014.
