Hinsdale, Ill., district sued over sexual abuse

Former student says she wouldn't have been abused if the district had looked into earlier accusation.

A lawsuit contends that Hinsdale, Ill. school officials conducted a "sham investigation" after being tipped that a teacher was sexually involved with a teenage student -- making it possible for the teacher to sexually abuse a second student. A 20-year-old former Hinsdale Central High School student alleges in the court filing that she wouldn't have been abused by Robert Mueller if Hinsdale District 86 had reported the tip about Mueller to police.
