Police in Baytown, Texas, say mother allegedly tried to flush the newborn down the toilet

Police in Baytown, Texas, believe a newborn child died after the 14-year-old mother tried to flush the infant down the toilet of a school bathroom. The mother, an unidentified eighth-grader at Cedar Bayou Junior School in the Goose Creek district, was taken to a hospital. Witnesses say she often wore baggy clothing, and school authorities say they didn't suspect that she was pregnant. She left her class Wednesday morning to go the restroom, where she gave birth to the child . Another student was in the bathroom when the girl was in labor and rushed down the hall to ask the school nurse for assistance. The nurse and an assistant principal ran to the bathroom, discovered the eighth-grader had given birth and called 911.
