Two integration schools in St. Paul, Minn., area will remain open

From The Minneapolis Star-Tribune: Two voluntary integration schools in the St. Paul, Minn., area will remain open but with less funding, the East Metro Integration District school board has decided. The decision resolved a debate among parents, board members and a superintendents who felt the millions of dollars their districts contributed to the 10-district collaboration were not producing higher test scores or narrowing the achievement gap between white and black students. The schools—Harambee Elementary in Maplewood and Crosswinds in Woodbury—will be able to stay open indefinitely, but contributions from participating districts will be reduced by up to 43 percent.
