Iowa district gets funds for new elementary

Voters in Lawton-Bronson approve $7.2 million proposal.

Voters in the Lawton-Bronson (Iowa) School District have approved a $7.2 million school bond issue. The money will pay for construction of a $9.2 million, 68,000-square-foot elementary school in Bronson; $2 million will come from a local option sales tax The bond request, which need a 60 percent majority, received 68 percent of the vote. District officials hope the school can open in 2009.
