State projections show the number of students will begin to rise

Declining school enrollment in Iowa will come to an end in two years as immigrant families continue to put down roots in the Hawkeye state, education projections show. Iowa's public school enrollment is expected to hit its first growth spurt in a dozen years during the 2010-11 school year, with more than 479,000 students. Kindergarten students will outnumber graduating seniors for four of the next five years. That will fuel a statewide enrollment increase of 0.7 percent during those years.
