New Orleans school official gets support after saying she might resign

A day after Robin Jarvis announced she might soon resign as Superintendent of the Recovery School District in New Orleans, she kept a low profile Thursday, pushing ahead with meetings and reading e-mails from community members imploring her not to give up. Jarvis said she was contemplating leaving the job after her performance as criticized by many state and local politicians. But supporters have urged patience as Jarvis works through what some feel is the toughest job in American urban education.
