Cost may slow Jefferson Parish (La.) plans for science academy

TheJefferson Parish (La.) School Board remains committed to moving forward with the construction of Patrick Taylor Science and Technology Academy in Avondale, but questions linger over how the board will pay for the new facility and whether it will be forced to ditch some amenities to pare down the cost. The project carries an estimated $34 million price tag. Board members, after viewing an updated presentation on the school's design, were impressed, but some continued to emphasize the uncertainty surrounding the project's financing.
