Joplin voters approve $62 million bond to rebuild tornado-ravaged schools

From The Joplin Globe: Voters in the Joplin (Mo.) School District have approved a $62 million bond issue that provides the funds to rebuild schools destroyed last year in a devastating tornado. The estimated rebuilding cost for all the schools and other associated projects is $185 million. The rest of the money is coming from insurance, government funding and donations.

FEBRUARY 2012.....from The Joplin Globe: TheJoplin (Mo.) school board has placed a $62 million bond proposal on the April 3 ballot to acquire funds that would help rebuilding schools destroyed last year by a tornado. The money also would help pay for community storm shelters throughout the school district, and repairs and upgrades to elementary schools undamaged in the devastating May 22 storm.
