Kansas City (Mo.) district mulls what to do with closed facilities

June 24, 2010
Officials have shut down about 40 percent of district's schools

From The Kansas City Star: The Kansas City (Mo.) school board is trying to decide what to do with all its closed schools. The district already had 15 closed schools before the new wave hit. A couple have sales pending. Others have been on the shopping block for years. Some that have been sold remain empty hulks while developers struggle for financing or haggle with neighborhoods over changed plans. Twenty-one more buildings are being closed, with the district keeping nine or 10 in reserve.
