From The Key West Keynoter: Officials with the city of Key West, Fla.,and the Monroe Countyschool system are trying to resolve a dispute over the height of a middle school under construction. The city says that two buildings in phase 1 of the construction of the O'Bryant Middle Schoolcampus exceed the height limit of 25 feet in that zoning district. A middle school building that has a peak height of 56 feet, and a gym that is to be 38.5 feet tall. The district has agreed to redesign the four buildings planned for Phase 2 of the school project to bring them into compliance with the city's height cap. But some in the city want the buildings under construction lowered or torn down altogether.
