From The Flathead Beacon: Voters have rejected the Kila (Mont.) School District’s $2.1 million bond request. The vote was 359 against and 142 in favor. School officials were requesting the bond for an 11,423-square-foot expansion and remodeling project. The physical improvements were needed to accommodate enrollment growth--up 25 percent over the last decade to 152 students in grades K-8--and update outdated facilities.
From May 2009....The Flathead Beacon: The Kila (Mont.) district is asking voters on June 2 to approve a $2.1 million bond to pay for an 11,423-square-foot expansion and remodeling of its K-8 facility. Officials say the school is running out of room. Enrollment has grown 25 percent over the last decade to 152 students. The computer lab and library are cramped and dated. The proposed expansion includes two new classrooms, a science lab, a new library, a new kitchen and a multipurpose room, which would be used as a cafeteria and for drama and music classes, after-school programs and more.
