Altered kindergarten schedule saves bus costs

Warren Township (Ind.) school district officials have found a creative way to save money spent on midday bus routes for kindergarten students. They have eliminated half-day kindergarten sessions. Instead, kindergarten students will attend a full day, two or three days a week. Some of the district's kindergarten students will attend school Mondays and Wednesdays, and others will attend Tuesdays and Thursdays. The two groups alternate which weeks they attend school on Fridays. The move will save the district a projected $361,992 because it no longer will have to make the midday bus runs that take home morning kindergartners and pick up afternoon kindergartners.
