Court action removes obstacle for construction of community college campus in Kyle, Texas

Jan 23, 2012 12:57 PM

From The Austin American-Statesman: The Texas Supreme Court's recent decision to forgo review of a case involving Austin Community College clears the way for financing and construction of a campus in Kyle. But still unresolved is the question of whether the community college district complied with state law in the run-up to the November 2010 annexation election. In that election, 58.5 percent of voters in Kyle, Buda and the rest of the Hays school district agreed to join the community college's taxing territory, an action that subjects property owners to a new levy and secures a tuition discount for district residents.
