L.A. teachers reach tentative contract agreement with district

Teachers agree to take 10 furlough days next year to save 4,149 district jobs

From The Los Angeles Daily News: Adult and childhood education programs would be restructured and elementary arts classes and continuation high schools revived under a tentative contract approved by the Los Angeles Unified District and its teachers union. The proposal calls for members of United Teachers Los Angeles to take up to 10 furlough days next year to save the jobs of 4,149 educators, librarians, nurses and counselors. Several hundred additional jobs are expected to be restored in the upcoming weeks through rulings made by an administrative law judge.
