Michigan district seeks security upgrades

It's a problem in many school districts with older buildings: Student entrances aren't near the main office. That makes it difficult for school officials to monitor who's coming and going, creating concerns in an era in which lockdowns and other security scares are all too common. And it's an issue officials with the Lake Shore (Mich.) Public Schools plan to remedy at three of their buildings if residents approve a $9.7 million proposal in August.
