Architect says Crystal Lake is the elementary school that the district should close

From The St. Paul Pioneer Press: An architecture firm has recommended that the Lakeville (Minn.) district should close Crystal Lake Elementary School. The firm, Wold Architects and Engineers, arrived at the recommendation after sifting through data on enrollment, building features, traffic patterns and more. The district administration had envisioned closing an elementary school next year and reopening it as a different facility. But the board asked school officials to shutter a school this fall. The district estimates the closure will save about $725,000.

JANUARY 2011...From The Minneapolis Star Tribune: A budget crisis paired with declining enrollment in the once-booming Lakeville (Minn.) school district has prompted Superintendent Gary Amoroso to propose closing an elementary school in the fall of 2012. The recommendation is part of an effort to close a projected two-year budget gap of $15.8 million.
