Voters OK school bonds in Las Cruces, N.M.

The Las Cruces (N.M.) district will build three new schools--elementary, middle and high--with $35 million in bond funds approved by voters. The district will spend $19.5 million to build a high school that will open in 2011, $6.5 million to build a middle school that will open in 2010, and $3 million to build an elementary school that will open in 2009. Another $6 million is earmarked for renovations such as roof repair, new heating and cooling systems, furniture, lighting, parking lot improvements, bathroom remodeling, and classroom and playground equipment.
