Kentucky businessman buys elementary school he attended 50 years ago

From The Lexington Herald-Leader: Lexington, Ky., businessman Bill Meade has lots of good memories about the Julia R. Ewan Elementary School, so many that he ponied up more than $1 million of his own money Thursday to save the place.Meade, who attended the school in the late 1950s, bid $1,225,000 to buy the old building at public auction. He said he wants to preserve it. The Fayette County School District closed J.R. Ewan last year.
