Elementary in Aurora, Ill., to close after 118 years

From The Aurora Beacon-News: Lincoln Elementary School, where Aurora, Ill., students have attended classes since 1891, will close at the end of the 2008-09 school year. The West Aurora School Board decided that the costs of keeping the facility open are too high. Closing Lincoln, and shifting its less than 300 students to other district buildings, would save the district $916,000 in administrative, office professional, custodian, teacher, supply and utility costs.
