This marks the sixth time since 2006 that a plan for a new high school been defeated. Crowding at both the East and Central campuses has been an ongoing problem, and the district has sought voter approval for a new campus with several different proposals. High School District will ask voters on April 5 to approve an $85 million bond sale to build a new high school for 1,9000 students in Homer Glen. This will be the sixth attempt since 2006 to get voter approval for a new school to relieve crowding at Lockport High’s East Campus. Despite the previous failures, District officials think a combination of federal and state financial incentives will persuade voters to support the request. The district expects to get $20 million to $25 million via state construction grants.
