Los Angeles board eliminates flavored milk from school menus

Change is part of effort to improve nutrition and combat obesity

From The Los Angeles Times: The Los Angeles Unified School District has approved a new dairy contract that makes it the largest district in the nation to eliminate flavored milk from its menus. The district serves 650,000 meals a day at 1,000 sites. The action is part of the district's effort to make school food more healthful and help combat obesity. The menu changes will result in more vegetarian offerings and fewer meals that resemble fast food.
