Louisiana governor wants to spend $100 million on college construction

Louisiana's state college budgets may soon be cut by more than $200 million, but Gov. Bobby Jindal says he wants to use about $100 million in surplus funds for college construction projects. Jindal wants to spend about a fifth of the state’s remaining $500 million in 2007-2008 surplus funds for “ready-to-go” projects ranging from $2.91 million to replace water boilers and chillers at Southern University to $3 million to finalize funding for Louisiana State University’s planned new band hall.
