St. Tammany Parish is spending $700,000 on security measure

The St. Tammany Parish (La.) district has installed perimeter fencing around the district's 21 elementary schools and plans to complete middle and junior high schools by early next year. One of many safety measures launched by the school district recently, the fencing was suggested by parents during meetings about school safety. The district has budgeted almost $700,000 to build 4- to 6-foot chain-link fences around all of the district's 52 schools.
