Changes were needed to assure all planned projects would be funded

From The New Orleans Times-Picayune: The latest revisions to the roughly $2 billion master plan for public school construction in New Orleans have been approved by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. Earlier...from The New Orleans Times-Picayune: The Orleans Parish (La.) School Board has approved amendments to the city of New Orleans' master plan for school construction. It now will be sent on to the state board of education for final approval. City and state officials have been working out how to stretch what's left of roughly $2 billion in federal aid to repair and rebuild school facilities damaged or destroyed during Hurricane Katrina and the flooding that followed. The plan formula that is winning consensus calls for downsizing a few projects at a savings and using tax credits to generate extra cash.
