Louisiana picks lawyer as state's education chief

Paul Pastorek, a New Orleans lawyer and experienced education policymaker, has been chosen as Louisiana's state superintendent of education. Pastorek, a former member of the state board of education that appointed him, replaces Cecil Picard, who died last month of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
