Charter school in St. Lucie County, Fla., will focus on training future teachers

The St. Lucie County (Fla.) School District and Florida Atlantic University are scheduled to break ground this week on a charter laboratory school where they hope to train future teachers and research innovative teaching methods. The school will cost about $29.7 million and have about 1,600 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. It is expected to open in 2008.
