From The Boston Globe: A plan to close the Ford School Annex in Lynn, Mass., and relocate its sixth to eighth grades to other schools is drawing heavy opposition from parents. The Ford School, Lynn's only public K-8 school, has a main building for kindergarten through fourth grades, and an annex for fifth through eighth grades. Under a cost-cutting move, the annex would close at the end of this school year. Ford's sixth- through eighth-grade students would be distributed among the city's three middle schools, while the fifth grade would go to the main Ford building. School officials say the change would save $1.5 million.
