Online maps are supplanting pull-down paper versions

From The Chicago Tribune: Many geography teachers hope the move toward schools' using digital atlases and online mapping sites will appeal to students who otherwise might be turned off by the subject. It doesn't hurt that schools often can save money in the process. Glenview (Ill.) School District 34 officials have swapped the recurring cost of updating classroom maps with a one-time investment in smart boards and computers that enable teachers to download maps and make the subject more interactive.
