The Massachusetts School Building Authority has agreed to work with the town of Marblehead to determine the extent of repairs required at the Village School. The town has approved plans to spend $21.8 million to overhaul the aging school, which houses grades 4 to 6. Built in 1953, with an addition in 1967, the school has a list of deficiencies, including heating problems, drafty windows, poor access for people with disabilities, and fire safety issues.

ALSO: The Massachusetts School Building Authority will help the town of Belmont draft design plans for a new Wellington Elementary School. The city of Medford has been given the green light for a smaller project, an assessment of its high school to determine the extent of needed repairs.
