Massachusetts puts 83 schools in line for facility funding

The state of Massachusetts has identified 83 schools as the leading candidates for millions of dollars in school construction money to repair or replace crumbling libraries, classrooms, and roofs. The Massachusetts School Building Authority will vote on whether to approve the list, which was culled from an initial pool of 423 requests. Making the list is not a guarantee of funding, but it means that those schools have won the first round of a stiff competition for $2.5 billion set to be spent on school construction over the next five years.
