Memphis may bring some busing in-house

The Memphis district is looking at bringing some of its busing in-house. When the district's busing contract with Laidlaw ends in 2009, the cost is likely to go up by more than 20 percent because of the lack of competition. Michael Goar, the district's chief operating officer, is recommending that the district bring busing for extracurricular activities, as well as for students in the Berryhill and Countrywood Annexation areas in Cordova, in-house.
