Common schedule would enable districts to share services more easily

All school districts in the same county would have to use the same school-year calendar -- including days off for Christmas and spring break -- under legislation passed by the Michigan Senate. Sponsors of the bill say it would make it easier for school districts to cut costs by sharing services such as busing, food service and technology.
