Upgrade will result in 800 video cameras in the 26 buildings of the Wayne-Westland district

Vandalism inside the buildings of the Wayne-Westland (Mich.) Community School District was down almost 100 percent and outside the buildings had dropped 90 percent after officials installed a video surveillance system about seven years ago. Those positive results are why district officials are carrying out a $1,086,900 upgrade that will include a major expansion of the video surveillance system. When the project is completed next fall, there will be 800 cameras in the district's 26 buildings and its school buses.
