Closings will save Wayne-Westland system $5 million a year

FromThe Detroit Free Press: The Wayne-Westland (Mich.) Community School District will close six elementary schools close next year to save $5 million. Because of the closings, district will reconfigure its grades to a K-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-12 system.

Earlier....from The Detroit News: The Wayne-Westland (Mich.) Community School District has scaled back its plan to close seven of its 17 elementary schools after nearly 300 parents objected last week to the move. Instead, six elementaries will close. Hamilton Elementary School will remain open.
