From The Detroit News: Michigan's recovery school district will need $24.7 million for start-up costs that include administrative salaries, technology for students and classrooms, and paying for a summer academy for teachers. But the new school system has raised only a fraction of that amount from private donors so far. The recovery district, officially called the Education Achievement Authority, is relying entirely on donations to cover start-up costs for the system, which is to launch this fall with 15 low-performing Detroit schools.
