Iconic smokestack to be torn down at Michigan State University

From The Detroit News: The “MSC” smokestack, a visual icon at Michigan State University in East Lansing, is scheduled for demolition this summer. The 230-foot-tall tower has served as a guiding landmark for disoriented students on the campus since its construction in 1948, when the school was known as Michigan State College of Agriculture and Applied Science. Now the smokestack is deteriorating and runs the risk of falling.
