Art museum will be built on East Lansing campus

Michigan State University in East Lansing has unveiled the design for a new contemporary art museum. Architect Zaha Hadid has designed a sleek, trapezoidal structure that has an aluminum and glass exterior with "pleats" throughout to allow natural light to shine through. The 41,000-square foot, three-level museum will adjoin an expansive outdoor sculpture garden. The university plans to break ground in the fall and open the museum in 2010.
