Michigan State unveils plans for medical school facility

$90 million project would open in 2010 in Grand Rapids.

Michigan State University has unveiled plans for a $90 million building that will be the home of the university's medical school campus in Grand Rapids. The 180,000-square-foot Secchia Center will be seven stories tall. It is expected to open in 2010. Officials say the facility will be primarily an educational facility, but the medical plans to partner with established medical facilities in Grand Rapids to do research of cancer, neuroscience, cardiovascular activity and women’s health. The architect is Ellenzweig Architects.
