State eliminated funding for the center

From The Springfield News-Leader: State budget cuts will force the Missouri Center for Safe Schools to shut down. Since 1995, the center has provided training and guidance to school districts about how to effectively respond to disasters and emergencies. Director Russ Thompson says the Kansas City-based center's $219,000 funding was completely axed, so it will be shutting down in January.
