More community colleges offering student housing

April 7, 2009
Students seek out more affordable education, but still want the option of living on campus

From The Los Angeles Times: The student apartments at Cerro Coso Community College, a public two-year institution in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., are part of a new wave of student housing at community colleges, as the commuter culture at such schools gives way to a more traditional college experience. Experts say rising university tuition is pushing more traditional college-age students into two-year schools, and community colleges also are aggressively recruiting athletes and international students, who often prefer or need on-campus housing.
