Bus driver suspended after taunting special-needs students

A school bus driver and a bus aide in Morton School District 201, based in Cicero, Ill., have been suspended after they were heard on tape taunting special-needs students. The driver reportedly "joked" about tying kids to the roof of the bus and breaking a child's finger. The two worked for First Student Inc. and transported eight disabled children to a special-needs school in Chicago. The Morton district subsequently learned that the two men were allowed to work elsewhere following their six-week suspension in January, so the district says it is reviewing its $1.5 million annual contract with First Student and will try to bid the contract out by the end of the school year.
