Missouri program helps schools dispose of chemicals

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, along with others, have started a new program to help schools properly dispose of unsafe chemicals from their science labs and classrooms. The project is cleaning out about 100 schools across the state and accepting applications for more. The Environmental Protection Agency says outdated and unknown chemicals found in schools can cause fires and explosions. The amount of chemicals removed from Missouri schools through the program has ranged from about 10 to 400 pounds.
