New arena under construction at St. Louis U.

The $80 million Chaifetz Arena is expected to open next year.

St. Louis University is building a 10,600-seat multipurpose arena that will serve as home for its basketball teams and other events. The $80 million facility will be called the Chaifetz Arena and is scheduled to open in 2008. It will have 12 private suites, training rooms, athletic offices, a sports medicine facility, and a practice facility for basketball and volleyball. The architects are Mackey Mitchell Associates and Sink Combs Dethlefs.
