New Jersey district approves plans for new high school

336,000-square-foot campus to be built in Phillipsburg

The Phillipsburg (N.J.) school board has approved revised plans for the district's long-awaited new high school. The 336,000-square-foot project is about 38,000 square feet less than originally proposed. Groundbreaking for the three-story building is slated for June, and the new school would open in 2013 for 1,750 students. The original price tag was $174.4 million, but because of the revisions, the new cost still is being adjusted. The architect is Design Ideas Group.
