New Jersey law eliminates 26 non-operating districts

From The Cherry Hill Courier-Post: New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine has signed legislation clarifying procedures to eliminate the state's 26 nonoperating school districts and merge them into existing ones. The districts have no schools; typically they have a small number of students that are sent to another district's schools, and the non-operating districts are charged tuition. New Jersey has 616 school districts, so after the mergers it will still have 590. State officials aren't sure what the monetary savings will be.
