New law requires greater notice about public school closings in Chicago

From The Chicago Tribune: Chicago Public Schools officials will be required to give greater advance notice about planned school construction projects and building closings under a law Gov. Pat Quinn has signed. The law came about after constituents complained changes were being made at schools and buildings were being closed without community input. Last year, several dozen people occupied a field house at Whittier Elementary School in the Pilsen neighborhood for more than a month to protest district plans to demolish the building.
